Yoga in Physical Therapy

As a Yoga enthusiast I was delighted to see that many hospitals are now incorporating Yoga into their transitional physical therapy programs. Yoga is an ancient practice of exercise that was developed to prepare the mind and body for prayer. Although developed by men, most of the Yoga classes I attend are dominated by women. As a community outreach program many hospitals have begun education and wellness classes. These classes range from nutritional needs to stress and weight management seminars. Yoga classes help to relieve stress, provide exercise, and improve balance and movement skills.

In addition to hospital programs Yoga teachers are now teaching to corporations, small businesses, and government offices. Many health science universities offer courses in the human movement program. Yoga techniques are also being incorporated into pregnancy classes to help prepare the mother for labor with breathing and stretching techniques.

Yoga has helped me with my posture. As a teen I was a notorious sloucher, my mother always said I would be a hunch back by the time I reached thirty. A lot of yoga moves help to strengthen the core of the body which provides for improved posture. For me yoga is just a great way to start or end the day, sometimes I only have time for a quick twenty minute routine, but after hours hunched over a computer, yoga is a great refresher.

Why Do I Need A College Degree?

A generation or two ago, getting a college degree was considered a luxury. Women, especially, weren’t even expected or often encouraged to get one. Nowadays, regardless of gender, it’s more like a necessity for any job. This can leave many older job applicants in a bit of a bind. They have the experience, but they may not have the college degree so many companies are looking for these days. With today’s trying times and even more trying economy, earning a college degree could open up so many otherwise closed doors. More often than not, these improved opportunities also come with increased pay, more responsibilities and a wider option of jobs at a greater number of companies. Why wouldn’t someone want such an advantage?

Some people are put off by the potential investment. But an online college degree can save you a great deal of money. An MBA business degree economics based may sound fancy and impressive, but it doesn’t have to cost you a ton of time and money. Even a master's degree business management program does not have to cost as much as it might sound when you enter the program online.

A college degree can represent a significant different in your professional, personally and financial life. Don’t you owe it to yourself to make this kind of investment?

What Can I Do with a Golf Education?

Golf is becoming more popular, and to help feed the growing industry, a number of golf colleges have sprung up nationwide. For instance, there is a great golf academy of Arizona, and other, similar schools in places like California, Florida, and the Carolinas.

Of course, most people want to know before enrolling in a golf school what they will be able to do with a golf degree. It comes as a surprise to many, but there are many golf jobs available to those who know the game and the industry. Here are just a few that you would qualify for with a golf education.

  • Golf course manager or golf resort manager -- Someone who manages a golf course or resort must know the ins and outs of both the game and managing a business in the industry. In other words, to be a golf course manager you really need training in two different departments, which explains why this job often requires more training and/or experience than other golf jobs.

  • Greenskeeper, grounds maintenance, and landscaping -- Golf courses and golf resorts are huge swaths of land that require a lot of careful landscaping and upkeep. Therefore there is a lot of demand in this department, and a lot of job security for those who understand the job and can do it well.

  • Golf instructor -- As a golf instructor, you might work for a golf course or a golf resort, or you could go into business for yourself. Typically, whether you work for someone or for yourself, your employer and/or clients will expect you to have the training and experience to demonstrate your qualifications as an instructor.

As you can see, there are plenty of jobs in the golf industry to justify getting a golf education. If you truly enjoy golf and want to work in the industry, you will have to end of choices available to you!

4 Parts of a Culinary Education

People who are planning to pursue culinary arts degrees should know that there are four important things that you should expect to get out of a high-quality culinary education.
These are the four things that you should come away from a culinary arts school with:
  • Knowing how to cook well. The basic thing that you are going to learn how to do at a cooking school is that you are going to learn how to make and bake a lot of different dishes.

  • Understanding the business of being a chef. There is a lot more to being a successful chef than just knowing how to cook right, especially if you plan on opening up your own restaurant one day!

  • Networking skills and connections. You should learn how to meet and network with people in the industry and you should be given the opportunity to do so while you are in school.

  • Creativity and inspiration. A good culinary education is going to teach you that it's important to always remember the "arts" in "culinary arts".

These four things should be the four corners of a culinary school program that is put together well. Look for them when choosing a school.

Purpose of Different Culinary Arts Degrees

Imagine that you are thinking about getting culinary arts training in Chicago. Do you realize that there is more than one type of degree that you can get at a Chicago culinary arts school? Many cooking school students don't realize this which is unfortunate because it means that they often don't start out in the right program and end up spending more time in school than they need to before entering their culinary careers.

There are both diploma and degree programs at most culinary arts schools in Chicago and elsewhere throughout the nation. Diploma programs are designed to allow students to get through school quickly so that they can start earning money working in the culinary arts. Degree programs are designed to allow students to gain skills that will allow them to start out at either an entry-level or mid-level position in a restaurant but to steadily work up through the restaurant ranks.

In addition to the lengths of different programs and their suitability for advancement in the industry, there is also the option of choosing a specialized culinary program instead of a general one. Someone who wants to bake and doesn't care about cooking could take a baking degree program. These are things to consider before finalizing a choice about culinary school.
